Beer Image Beer Name: Goose Island Sofie
Brewer Name: Goose Island Beer Company
Style: Saison
Beer Description: * Fermented with wild yeasts and aged in wine barrels with orange peel, Sofie is a tart, dry, sparkling ale. A subtle, spicy white pepper note, a hint of citrus from the orange peel and a creamy vanilla finish make Sofie an intriguing choice for Champagne drinkers and beer drinkers who are fond of Belgian Saisons.

I'm more with BeerNut here, I think this is a solid brew. It almost reminded me more of a wine, but it seems like that's the goal of a really good Saison. Highly drinkable with a nice citrus flavor with a hint of spiciness... got some floral notes and orange before a slightly bitter and dry finish. I'll grab a few more bottles of this for a humid Summer night over the grill.

A Saison? Really? This reminded me more of a Trippel. Kind of disappointed with this brew. I look forward to trying it again to double or Trippel check my taste buds!

Light golden color. Tasted like a Belgian Golden Ale. Had the funky Saison yeast smell to it. If Saisons are your thing, then I'd suggest trying it, but I'm not fond of them.

This is the beginning of a great Saison. Medium gold color, pleasing aroma of fresh fruits with low hop aroma. Would have liked to see just a touch of floral aroma and a touch more spice than is present. Water profile seems to match Goose Islands other offerings.
