Beer Image Beer Name: Choc Signature Belgian-Style Dubbel
Brewer Name: Choc Beer Company
Style: Abbey Dubbel
Beer Description: * The Belgian-Style Dubbel is a beer style crafted by and made famous by the Trappist Monks of Belgium. Our version is deep ruby red and malty with just enough phenols and esters from the Belgian yeast to bring the complex flavors from a beer of this style into balance. This special brew won the gold medal at the 2009 Great American Beer Festival in the "abbey-style ale" competition, beating out nearly 60 national competitors.

I'm glad this was not the first Dubbel I ever had. It was lacking in flavor all around. However, it was a very drinkable Dubbel. I just don't plan on getting this as long as I can get Maredsous 8!

I thought it was a good Dubbel. It was my favorite beer that I've tried from Choc. Taste was what you'd expect...lots of sweet fruit with bananas being the strongest. Very drinkable. Was a little light tasting for the style though.

More mediocrity from Choc. Lacks much malt and richness that I sort of expected from a dubbel. Not awful, definitely not impressive. Meh.
