Maybe "Yanjing" is Chinese for "light, skunky, American macro knockoff".

Sierra Nevada Glissade Golden Bock

This beer fits well with Spring. Comes on soft and mellow with a nice yeasty smell and taste; slightly sweet, supremely easy to drink with an ABV that's decent enough to mellow you out as well. Some beers I only want one of but this is like aspirin, take two. It's doesn't have a taste that slaps you around but it doesn't aspire to that.

Long Trail Traditional IPA

I was very interested in tasting an unfiltered IPA. I could have been served this on tap and thought i was given a unfiltered wheat beer. Had a bright smell and almost some banana in the background. I love the natural carbonation, just odd in an IPA.

I haven't had one since Miller took over the brand, but I've only had two beers in my life that I've liked less--Pearl, and Grain Belt, and they are both out of business. But, god were they cheap, and I mean cheap when Budweiser was $1.25 a six-pack.

Budweiser Chelada

I was served my first red beer in the UP of Michigan in 1964. I ordered a bloody Mary, thinking I'd get vodka and tomato juice. Surprized the hell out of me when the bartender dumped beer in the tomato juice, but "What the hell", I'll try anything once. Sometimes a red beer hits the spot. And sometimes beer and Clamato hit even closer to the spot. Yeah, it's an acquired taste, and I was surprised AB did as well as they did. Still I'd rather mix my own.

Michelob Amber Bock
Rating: 5/10
I started to rate this lower, then I realized a gave Bud a 5, and I like this is better than plain ol' Bud, so it gets a 5 too.

It's not a bad beer, it's just nothing to rave about.

No better, no worse than Budlight in my opinion. Light beers suck. I remember when light beers were first introduced. Tried a few from each of the major brewers, but never understood what anyone saw in them. And, no one I know that switched to them lost their beer gut.

Like Bud, I can't totally trash it, because I've drunk a lot of it since 1960. In fact, I've probably drank more Busch than Bud because it costs less and tastes about the same (in my humble opinion).

Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue)
Rating: 8/10
This ale is different from any American ale I've ever tasted, but I like it. Perhaps not as well as Rogue's Brutal Bitter, or Lagunitas Lucky 13, but I always keep a few bottles in the basement. It stores well. I purchased 2007 vintage in 2009. I consumed it on New Year's Eve and it was good.

Samuel Smith's Nut Brown Ale
Rating: 7/10
I like most porters and stouts better. Since I haven't tried many nut-brown ales, I can't say how well this one represents the style. I found it a little too sweet for my taste, but it would go well after a meal with bread pudding.

Shiner Bock
Rating: 5/10
Better than big-brewery light and pale lagers. I need to contrast it alongside of 2 or 3 other bocks before I make up my mind where it ranks in the bock crowd, but I suspect it is middle-of-the-road.

Tecate
Rating: 5/10
I like this better that the average American lager, and more than Corona, or Modelo Especial. I guess it deserves a 5.5.

Mine came in a bottle, not a can. I wish it were better, because Tecate sponsers Friday Night Fights, and I'm a big fan, but I nearly always drink something else.

I wasn't impressed. Just another middle-of-the-road lager as far as I'm concerned. I'm surprised it's distributed as far west as Wyoming.

I agree with other reviewers -- there wasn't anything exceptional about it. Maybe I'll give it another try someday, but probably not.

Grand Teton Bitch Creek ESB
Rating: 8/10
Good balance between the hops and the malts. I liked it, and would buy it again. A six-pack cost me $8.00. I didn't like it quite as much as I like Rogue's Brutal Bitter Bitter, but I liked it a little more than Sierra Nevada's ESB.

The hop bitterness does not overpower the taste buds. The ale is the color of weak coffee, and it is slightly opaque. The bottles I sampled had a slight chill haze, and a short-lasting, light-coffee colored head. There was a fair amount of sediment in the bottom of each glass, but once you taste it, these attributes shouldn't stop you from buying more.

Ghost River Stout
Rating: 7/10
I fully expect my rating on this to be higher than anyone else probably because it was super fresh and not even out of the tank yet or kegged. Tasted like a decent stout though. I really enjoyed it. I'll rank it again when I find it on tap somewhere.

New Belgium Trippel
Rating: 9/10
I was blown away by this one. Most of it had to do with the fact that I can buy it in Arkansas and it does not cost an arm and a leg. I almost forgot, it is good. I felt like it was a strong trippel that was intended to be bold. Given a lot of New Belgium's other beers this surprised me. I thought they would go conservative, but they did not.

Odell Levity Amber Ale
Rating: 4/10
I may have had a bad sixer on this, but I could not tell what they were trying to do here. Strong on the malt and weak on everything else. And not in a positive way like an Oktoberfest or Irish Ale. This one was lacking something.

Not as hoppy as I like my pale ales, more like an English Pale or something. The hops and malts were decently balanced though and it's drinkable, just very average.

Schlafly Irish-Style Extra Stout
Rating: 8/10
It was surprisingly good.... I expected it to be heavier and sweeter than it was due to the look and feel. Poured black with a pleasant roasted coffee and chocolate smell. The taste is coffee and dry cocoa. Smooth, alcohol very well hidden. As it warmed up I noticed a slight "off" taste but barely noticeable. I'll buy it again.

Snake River Pale Ale
Rating: 7/10
This beer has a number of awards to its credit, but nothing recent. It's a good, average American IPA that ranks in the low 7s. Hoppy enough to discourage Budlight drinkers, but not as strongly hopped as my favorite IPAs. Good clear amber color, but doesn't hold its head for very long. I liked Grand Teton brewery's Sweetgrass Pale Ale a little better, but try them both if you get to NW Wyoming.
